I have no idea what to write...Im struggling immensely to put pen to paper, lacking inspiration during this task. I don't know what I can write about and keep it about my professional practice....???
Hey JP, All I can say or offer at this point is to tell you not to worry. Many of us have struggled with this section. I read the Reader 2 several times and felt that although I understood what was written, I was unable to to start writing. Have you started your journal? Again, this was something that I struggled to start, but I have realised how useful a tool it is by getting all my thoughts and feelings out of my head and on to paper; it all starts to make a lots more sense... On my post, I have written my account of not being able to get started, then I took my thought process about it all and wrote about it. I'm not sure if you'll be able to relate directly to it, but it may help..? I know you're away at sea but I have got some books from the library that were recommended at the end of Reader 2. Apparently some of the books are available as an e-book so you may well be able to download on-line? I feel like I am hungry for more information, from sources other than / as well as the Reader. I hope this helps JP. When are you back to the UK next? Best Wishes, Jo
No I haven't started my journal yet, I have no idea what to write about? Not much happens really here, nothing that I can think is interesting? I will have a look on your blog and see if i can find some inspiration. Yeah I think the same, I feel like I need some more information to help fuel my process. I get back to the UK on the 25th April...I can't wait!! Do you when the next campus session is around that time?
John-Paul Remember this journal has a professional purpose. It could be a log that shows your observation - for example using Kolb's cycle to develop ideas about how you could improve your what you do. Here is a possible format... Date What was the focus/task for the learning? What have I learned about the focus/task? How can I be more effective? What needs to be done and why? e.g. acquiring knowledge, feedback/discussion with peers… What have I discovered about myself? e.g. strengths, points of view, values… You need to start thinking about aspects of your role or work that you could focus on - so 2d. Some people link this to subjects that they did in their training but did not have enough time to really research. Their could be an aspect of your current work - team building of example - that you want to focus on...managing this process - inventing and choreography.
Some of this thinking also relate to Part 3 - networking - so just go onto to some of those tasks if you are stuck! 14th of May is coming up quickly!
