So I’m now off the ship, back
in the good ole’ United Kingdom, back in the same position as I was 7 months
ago…Un-employed. As performers we all know this feeling all too well
unfortunately. It’s a feeling that put you on edge. “What’s next?” It’s also
kind of exciting, as we never really know what is next? I’d be interested in
knowing what does everyone do whilst their in this transitional period? What do
they do to either fill their time, or how do you use your time productively?
Me, I use it as a time to reflect and see what did I get out of the last
contract, what will benefit me next? It’s also a time for me to brush up on
technique be it, singing or dancing. Or simply just time out for me to breathe
as a person…
Hey JP,
ReplyDeleteWelcome home!
Where are you based in the UK? - If you fancy teaching some adults tap & ballet, you're more than welcome but it will only be worth a bit of pocket money and a giggle I'm afraid! :-)
I always found it very depressing coming back to the UK to be honest, but I would say get yourself auditioning straight away as the job wouldn't usually start for another 2 months at least whereby you can then chill out knowing that you've landed your next job already.
However, if you're looking for a change of direction...I hope you're taking some time out to do exactly as you say in your Blog, to reflect and understand what your next move will be.
Let me know you get on.
Take care,
Jo
Hiya Jo, I'm based up near Liverpool/Chester area. I would like a little teaching gig, however I've never taught before, and Ballet & Tap are not my strengths!! :) But I really appreciate the offer.
ReplyDeleteYeah coming it a little depressing...but I love it at the same time! Four seasons!! Thanks for your thoughts on what to do after un-employment. I will keep you informed as we go along! :) Are you looking forward to module 2?
JP :)
John-Paul - how about updating us for the start of Module 2? Bw
