You have stuck with this task - and the photos look professional and representative to document your shows - a professional photographer for the line? Increasingly, the power of visual imagery on the web has grown tremendously. It is central to advertising. Can you talk about this topic in terms of any professional communication technology theories it might bring up? It looks like the visual communication element could play a big role in your final inquiry artefact.
ReplyDeleteJohn-Paul,
ReplyDeleteI've just realised you are on a cruise and doing the course at the same time. How is that? challenging I bet? I did a cruise once, I found it difficult being cut off from the world in the middle of the ocean. Ho ware you finding studying and being sailing at the same time?
Ahmet
Ahmet,
DeleteI am indeed finding it quite challenging doing this course whilst I’m working on this cruise. The Internet is expensive and slow and at times it doesn’t work. So it can be a very frustrating and slow process for me to keep up with the necessities of the blogging world, therefore holding me back. It is very difficult to be cut off from the world, however thanks to web 2.0. I can still be in touch with the world and its news, via the web in port time, when I can find good Wi-Fi that is...? I remember back when I worked in Spain as a holiday rep back in 2002, and web 2.0 was pretty non-existent to me. All we had was email to keep in touch with family and friends and maybe msn messenger…? How things change eh? So now with Facebook and its 80 Million users roughly, I can see the difference it has made between now and 10 years ago. Also I’m finding it hard to set time apart to dedicate to my studies. So I need some sort of system that works for me…? Any ideas would be great? But I’m looking forward to coming home in 7 weeks, and maybe coming down to attend a campus session. ☺
JP - Your photos take me back to my 6 months at sea. :-) I hope you are having a great time - I was just wondering, with you aiming for a PGCE to teach, are you thinking of using your current professional experiences as your course subject or are you going to look ahead and think more from a teaching perspective? When I enrolled on the course in February, I thought I was heading for a PGCE to teach drama, but now I am going all out to use the course to expand my business. I wonder if that will change again before our final assessment....
ReplyDeleteAlan has posted a really good summary of what we covered yesterday on campus and Ahmet has given his view about the session as will I once I've stopped waffling on your Blog! I hope it's all going OK for you. Jo
Hiya Jo,
DeleteWhich ship did you do? Once I have my PGCE, my plan is to stay using my current professional experiences as my course subject, with a possible change as I get older?? Because at this point I still want to do some more performing as I have not achieved what I want from it yet. How are you finding teaching adults within your business? I think as performers we are used to having no or little stability, so the idea of making that decision which is a big decision, can be a little daunting to us. Well this is my outlook, I always like to have options, I don't like to say this is what Im going to do for the next 20 years...As you never know what is coming around the next corner. This course for me is protecting my later future rather than my next 2 or 3 years. However, I am looking forward to looking over what you discussed on campus, and when I get home, finally making it to a session myself! :)
hey...
ReplyDeleteI think you should litterally book study sessions in your diary. I book sessions in like I would book work in or a coffee with a mate. Then you can actually allocate study time instead of leave it till you have a free window. For me, it helps irradicate the feeling of not doing enough and helps me feel like I'm in control of the work load.
I'm gad to hear you are taking steps to secure your future. I wish I took these steps when I was younger. I was to busy being lost in theatre land, which was great and has shaped me as a professional now, but I can't help wish I did this sooner...
Well done you
Ahmet
Thanks Ahmet, I'm gonna try and sit down and plan my study time.
